What the app collects
Nothing. The app does not collect, receive, store or share any personal information or usage data. We do not know who uses the app, how it is used, or what is written in it.
What stays on your iPad
To work, the app keeps a few things on your own device, inside the app's private storage:
- the characters you write and the sets you create;
- how many times you have practiced each character;
- your settings, such as square size, pinyin size and animation speed.
This information never leaves your iPad through Zige. We cannot see it or access it. If your iPad is set to back up to iCloud or to a computer, Apple may include it in that backup, under Apple's privacy policy and your own settings, not ours.
No network, no backend
Zige is a standalone app. It makes no network connections and has no backend server. It contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDKs.
Sharing
The app shares nothing, because we have nothing. If you choose to export a practice sheet as a PDF, it goes only where you send it with the iPad's own Share menu.
The contact form on our website
The contact form on our Support page is part of this website, not the app. If you use it, we collect only what you type: your email address, your message and, if you add it, your iPad model and iPadOS version. We use them only to reply to you.
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the form is being sent by a person and not by a bot. Cloudflare processes this check under its own privacy policy.
- To confirm your address, we email you a 4-digit code. That email, and your message to us, are sent through Mailgun, our email provider.
- To enforce the sending limit, we keep your IP address and email address only as one-way hashes, for up to 8 days. A message that is never confirmed with its code is deleted after 24 hours.
- Your message is kept in our support mailbox only as long as we need it to help you.
We do not use what you send for marketing, and we never sell it. To have it deleted sooner, ask us with the same form.
Children
Zige is suitable for all ages. Because the app collects no data from anyone, it collects none from children.
Deleting your data
Deleting Zige from your iPad deletes everything it stored.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
