HSK Hanzi ("the App") is a Chinese language learning application operated by AiFarm ("we", "us", "our"). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your phone number for authentication purposes. You may optionally provide a display name and email address. On iOS, if you sign in with Apple, we receive the name and email address you choose to share.

Learning Data

We collect data about your study activity, including characters and vocabulary you have learned, accuracy scores, review schedules, and session durations. This data is essential to the spaced repetition system that personalizes your learning experience.

Diagnostic Information

We collect anonymized error logs and performance metrics to maintain and improve app stability. This includes error messages, device model, operating system version, and app version. Diagnostic logs are automatically deleted after 30 days.

Device Information

We collect basic device information (device model and operating system version) for compatibility and diagnostic purposes. We do not collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS or Advertising ID on Android) and do not track you across other apps or websites.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and personalize your learning experience
  • Schedule spaced repetition reviews at optimal intervals
  • Authenticate your identity and secure your account
  • Process subscription payments through Apple or Google Play
  • Diagnose and fix technical issues
  • Improve the App based on aggregated usage patterns
  • Comply with legal obligations

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers in the United States. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission, secure credential storage, and access controls. While no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, we take reasonable steps to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Apple Sign-In (iOS only) — authentication. Apple provides only the information you choose to share.
  • Apple StoreKit (iOS) — subscription management and payment processing. All payment information is handled by Apple.
  • Google Play Billing (Android) — subscription management and payment processing. All payment information is handled by Google.
  • Tencent Cloud Text-to-Speech — generates character and word pronunciation audio. No user data is sent to this service.
  • Google ML Kit (Android) — on-device Chinese text recognition for the photo OCR feature. Image processing happens locally on your device.

We do not sell, share, or provide your personal data to advertisers or data brokers.

Tracking and Advertising

HSK Hanzi does not use advertising SDKs and does not participate in ad networks. On iOS, we do not request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission. On Android, we do not collect the Advertising ID. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Data Retention

  • Your learning data and account information are retained for as long as your account is active
  • Diagnostic logs are automatically deleted after 30 days
  • You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings screen within the App
  • Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed from our servers

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — view your personal data through the App at any time
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate information
  • Deletion — delete your account and all associated data from Settings
  • Portability — request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Objection — object to certain types of data processing
  • Restriction — request that we limit how we use your data

International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers are located. If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that your data may be subject to different data protection laws. HSK Hanzi is designed for language learners of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction) without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other appropriate means. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
